The KSUT Tribal Media Center (TMC) empowers Indigenous voices by providing media education and resources for multimedia production and distribution. TMC is committed to facilitating the distribution of Indigenous stories and building connections between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities through media arts and journalism. Together with Arts2Work, the first federally-registered Apprenticeship program in Media Arts + Creative Technologies, the Colorado Office of Film, Television and Media and Cine Fe, a nonprofit incubator supporting filmmakers in Colorado – the Tribal Media Center has developed the Four Corners Pre-Apprenticeship program for emerging Native filmmakers and early-career producers, journalists, digital artists and multimedia creators.
The Tribal Media Center’s Pre-Apprenticeship Program provides foundational training and mentorship in digital media arts for residents of Southwest Colorado, with a focus on Indigenous, low-income and under-employed or unemployed individuals. Focusing on career-connected professional training, the program bridges the gap between education and industry, offering paid, hands-on experience and skill development to help participants identify and launch diverse careers in media, arts, and journalism. Program trainees will explore creative collaboration and new creative technologies and will create personal media projects as well content for local and national clients.
