La Plata Electric Association Inc. (LPEA) is excited to announce the opening of applications for its 2025 Internship Program, offering a unique opportunity for college students to gain hands-on experience in the energy industry. The application process opens on Monday, February 10. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.
Internships are available in the areas of information technology (IT), marketing, graphic design, and finance, with an additional open application available for students with other relevant skills or interests. Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation along with their application.
Designed with flexibility in mind, LPEA’s internship program is both paid and adaptable to students’ schedules. Interns can begin in the spring, summer, or fall, making it an ideal opportunity for students to balance academic and other commitments.
“Our internship program is a reflection of our commitment to developing local talent and providing genuine opportunities for our community members,” said LPEA Vice President of Business Services, Elizabeth Howe.
“We have an incredible local college, and as a cooperative, we see it as our responsibility to collaborate with our partners such as Fort Lewis College, to nurture the amazing people in our region. It’s crucial that we maximize the talent we have locally,” Howe said.
LPEA’s internship program is designed to provide interns with practical skills, industry exposure, and networking opportunities. Internships will offer real-world opportunities to work on meaningful projects that contribute to the cooperative’s mission while gaining insight into how LPEA teams work to achieve their goals.
Interested students are encouraged to apply early to secure their spot. For more information and to apply, visit LPEA’s career page.
