


Shining Mountain Health & Wellness and the Ute Mountain Ute Women’s Wellness Program hosted the Cervical Cancer Awareness Lunch and Learn on Thursday, Jan. 16 at the SUCCM Large Classroom. Attendees gathered to get more information on cervical cancer over a free lunch, sharing ideas on how to continue spreading the information especially to the youth.
Ute Mountain Ute Tribal member and cervical cancer survivor, Sonja Cuthair shared her emotional personal experience with cervical cancer with attendees of the Cervical Cancer Awareness Lunch and Learn on Thursday, Jan. 16. Despite her hardships, Cuthair overcame and won her battle against cancer, during the event she shared the importance of prioritizing good health and health knowledge.
Pediatrician, Sandra Beirne, MD gave a presentation on the relationship between the Human papillomavirus (HPV) and Cervical Cancer on Thursday, Jan. 16 during the Cervical Cancer Awareness Lunch and Learn. Beirne shared information about the vaccination against HPV and early prevention in adolescents and young adults.
