Two Jicarilla Nation councilmen, Avery Tafoya and Shane Valdez, were inaugurated on Friday, Dec. 6 in Dulce, N.M. They now occupy the seats once held by President Adrian Notsinneh and Vice President Jimmy Garcia. The inauguration was held at the Dulce Community Center; attendees included Southern Ute Tribal Chairman Melvin J. Baker and Councilman Marty Pinnecoose representing the Southern Ute Tribe. Other dignitaries included the Ute Mountain Ute Vice Chairman, Selwyn Whiteskunk.
