Celebrating the 102nd Southern Ute Tribal Fair: Events

Ute Mountain Ute Councilman, Conrad Jacket (carrying the Tribal Flag) and Southern Ute Veterans Association members, Raymond Baker and Gordon Hammond took part in this year’s Vigil Family & Veterans Memorial Run/Walk, held on Saturday, Sept. 7.
Oscar Cosio and Melanie Seibel hard at work, preparing for the annual pancake breakfast, this year hosted by the Ignacio Boys basketball team.

Hungry customers await their pancake breakfasts, prepared and served by the Ignacio boys basketball team and coaches.

Orin Standing was the first to finish the full course on Saturday morning, which included the nature trail over to Scott’s Pond and finished at SunUte Park. The Vigil Family & Veterans Memorial Run/Walk is held annually during the Tribal Fair.
Raffle tickets were drawn for prizes following the event, participants took home everything from basketballs to first aid kits.

“Passing Down Traditions” was the motto for the 102nd Annual Southern Ute Tribal Fair & Rodeo Sept. 6-8 in Ignacio, Colo. A full slate of events included the Kick-off meal, watermelon slices given away to attendees by the Southern Ute Tribal Council, Pancake Breakfast, Veterans Memorial Walk/Run, Native REZ-olution Youth Concert XIV! It was a full schedule to keep the fair goers busy over the weekend as well as the many food vendors that came from across Indian Country.
