Ignacio Mayor Clark Craig earns Republican Assembly nomination

Heads to ballot as State House District 59 Representative 

It is with great honor that the Republican Party House District 59 Officers and team announce Clark Craig as the Republican nominee for State House District 59 Representative to the primary ballot June 2024. 

The Republican House District 59 Assembly was held on March 23, at 11:30 a.m. at the VFW Hall – 1550 Main Ave, Durango, Colo. The delegates to that assembly nominated and designated Clark Craig of Ignacio, Colo. 

Craig has a commitment to our community’s prosperity and values and stands ready to serve as our voice in the State legislature. He brings a wealth of leadership experience, with the skills and determination to effectively advocate for our district’s needs and priorities at the state level. 

Clark Craig was elected Mayor of the Town of Ignacio in 2022. Before this, he served as chair of the Town of Ignacio Planning Commission. He is the Vice Chair of the La Plata County Planning Commission, President of the Ignacio Chamber of Commerce, and Chair of the Ignacio Community Library. 

Craig is a graduate of Durango High School and completed his Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Okla. He held various leadership positions in Oil and Gas Information Technology and Production Automation for nearly 25 years. These different roles took him, his wife, and three children to several states including New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma, including a short five-year assignment in Alberta, Canada. 

Craig and his wife, Sharon returned to Southwest Colorado in 2016 and are co-owners of Meadow Brook Mobile Home Park in Ignacio, Colo. After serving the local community, they have accepted the challenge to run for Colorado House District 59 in November 2024.
