Hunters from San Felipe Pueblo meet with members of Tribal Council in the Chambers prior to their cultural hunt on Monday, Oct. 30. Each year, members of the neighboring New Mexico Pueblos travel to the Southern Ute Reservation to participate in a cultural hunt, allowing hunters to harvest animals for their cultural ceremonies and to share amongst their tribe.
Following their meeting with Tribal Council, the hunters presented gifts to the Council members then made their way to the annex building for a briefing on rules and regulations prior to the cultural hunt. The San Felipe Pueblo hunters extended their gratitude to the Tribe for the opportunity to harvest game for their people and hope to return — continuing the shared bond between tribal communities.
