Bobcat Bulletin: How is it already May?

My goodness, what a whirlwind of a school year it has been! Our students have grown so much, right before our eyes, and it’s a little sad to think we are closing in on the end of our year together. It was wonderful to watch our students support each other as CMAS buddies, and we are looking forward to great results this year – and now that we have that under our belts, we are chock-full of educational fun for the remainder of the year.

I want to take this opportunity to highlight the wonderful things we’ve accomplished on our campus this year and activities planned to engage our school community. At the top of my list is our student progress for Accelerated Reader – Mrs. Angela Ballew led the charge for our 15-million-word challenge and our readers have already blown this goal out of the water! We are now headed for a goal of 17 million words read by May 13– we can do it!! We’ll have our final Bobcat Assemblies soon, so be on the lookout for invites to come and celebrate our Readers, Sporty Cats, and Six Pillar Bobcats.

On the heels of our word challenge we will be hosting our very first Luau. From our Bobcat Title Team; “The Title Team is excited to share that we will be hosting a Learning Luau Family Night on Thursday, May 19 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.! We are excited to put together this elementary family learning event, which will include a free dinner, followed by a rotation of family-friendly learning stations throughout the school building. We will be sending you RSVP forms soon.” We hope to see our Bobcat families at this fun and educational event.

We also have a very important event coming up next week for our incoming Kindergarteners; our Elementary Meet and Greet, 5 – 6:30 p.m. on May 12. We are excited to meet our new Kinders, have some dinner and explore the campus. If we didn’t get to meet you at our Bobcat Family Dance or our Empty Bowls event, both of which were spectacular, we hope to see you here! Many thanks to our PTO, Community Outreach Committee, DJ Cosio and Mrs. Brown for making these events special nights to remember.  We have so many more events coming up this month – here’s a look ahead:

  • Spring Concerts
  • Field Trips Galore
  • Yearbook Sales
  • Bobcat Assemblies
  • 22-23 Student Online Registration
  • Field Days
  • Fifth Grade Continuation
  • Kinder Graduation

I am continually grateful to our Bobcat Family and the Community of Ignacio for making such a positive impact on our Littlest Bobcats. I am looking forward to many more successful years to come.
