The Colorado Department of Transportation will perform road, shoulder and ditch work on US 550 just north of the New Mexico State line beginning next week. Operations will take place for two weeks.

Crews will be clearing out debris and large boulders from a drainage ditch and culvert. Much of the work will take place off the roadway. However, when crews are removing large rocks and boulders from the site, motorists can expect periodic lengthy closures.

Expect travel impacts from April 11 – 22, weekdays only, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. motorists will encounter intermittent stops of 15-30 minutes approximately two miles north of the NM state line, MP 2 to 2.5. Drivers will be guided by flagging personnel. A speed reduction of 40 mph will be enforced. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive with extreme caution through the work zone. This work is weather dependent.
