SunUte returns to Telluride for winter action

The SunUte Recreation team took 18 Southern Ute tribal members and descendants to the Telluride Ski Resort to improve their skiing and snowboarding skills.
Telluride ski and snowboarding instructors answer the questions of Dewayne Hendren and Sonny Flores after their training sessions are complete.
Tribal youth went up to Telluride, Colo. with the SunUte Recreation team to hone in on their snowboarding skills and enjoy the crisp mountain air.

The 3rd annual group of Telluride Ski and Snowboarders smile for a photo together before they are released to take runs down the mountain, work one-on-one with instructors, or take it easy on the bunny slopes.
During their weekend away, kids and chaperones enjoyed time together playing games, cooking meals and learning about snow sports.
Field trip participants: Sarafina Chackee, Nate Hendren and Cyrus Naranjo, ice skate hand in hand together before going inside the mountain lodge to drink hot chocolate and play games.

The SunUte Community Center sponsored the 3rd annual Telluride Ski and Snowboarding trip to the Mountain Lodge and Ski Resort in Telluride, Colo. during the weekend of Dec, 13 – Dec. 15. SunUte chaperones, Fitness Director, Abel Velasquez, Recreation Specialist, Deja Herrera, and Recreation Manager, Virgil Morgan spent two nights with 18 tribal youth at the Mountain Lodge in Telluride. They also spent one and half days skiing and snowboarding on the mountain. Not only did the youth get to learn and improve their skiing and snowboarding skills over the weekend, it was an opportunity for fun and bonding.
