Due to hot and dry conditions, the Southern Ute Agency Fire Management has ceased operations on this weekend’s prescribed burns for Sandoval Canyon and Cabezon Canyon.
The crews completed about one percent of the prescribed burn area and determined the conditions were too hot and dry to safely continue. Smoke may still be present in the area while crews hold the accomplished acreage. Firefighters will monitor the area in the upcoming days.
For more information regarding the project, please contact the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Fire Management Office at 970.563.4571.
