Southern Ute Veterans Association represented at the Native American Veterans Health and Wellness Symposium, Friday, Nov. 9, at the Isleta Pueblo Hotel and Casino in Albuquerque.
A long list of presenters made speeches on the programs that are available to veterans at the state and national level. Presentations covered: access to VA health care, caregiver support, families dealing with PTSD, grants for veteran’s initiatives, health services for women and Social Security benefits. Howard Richards Sr., Rodrick Grove, Gordon Hammond and Perry Benally, Silver Star recipient, of Farmington, N.M., attended the annual symposium.
Before the food was served, they honored all the missing military who served with a “Missing Man” honoring table.
