Tribal Christmas dinner brings festive joy

Santa brought Christmas cheer to all boys and girls at the Southern Ute Tribal Christmas dinner on Saturday, Dec. 20.

A smorgasbord of prime rib is sliced to perfection. The tribal Christmas dinner offered a festive meal for attendees; including turkey, corn, mashed potatoes, salad, and scrumptious holiday pies.
Miss Southern Ute, Ellie Siebel, shakes hands and welcomes all of the guests who came out for the holiday meal.
Move over Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus; there’s a new Christmas couple in town. Tribal members Eddie Box Jr. and Betty Box celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary during the tribal Christmas program.
Santa was the main attraction of the Christmas party. A number of kids and families lined up to meet the jolly St. Nick.

The Southern Ute Tribe held its annual tribal Christmas dinner on Saturday, Dec. 20. Families and friends across the Southern Ute Indian reservation attended the event, which was complete with a festive meal, plenty of presents for the kids, and a share of culture surrounding the history of the Southern Utes. Drum performances commenced, and special performances acted by a number of youth served as entertainment for all of the guests. Additionally, Santa Claus made rounds among the event center with special greetings to all tribal elder and youth.
