Chimney Rock prescribed burn a success

The Pagosa Ranger District of the San Juan National Forest conducted prescribed burning on Jan. 28 and 29 on 30 acres near the Visitors’ Center within Chimney Rock National Monument. A dozen firefighters ignited by hand needle litter and debris left over from a 2009 mechanical fuels-reduction project to further reduce flammable fuels on the ground.
