Community Invited to Participate in Mancos Shale Development Public Scoping Meeting
Community members are invited to learn more about the proposed Mancos Shale Development Project and participate in the public scoping process during an upcoming town hall meeting hosted by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and the Southern Ute Indian Tribe Department of Energy.
The public meeting will be held on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Sky Ute Casino Resort Event Center in Ignacio, Colorado.
The event marks an important step in the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review process and provides an opportunity for community members, stakeholders, and interested parties to learn about the proposed project, ask questions, and provide input that can help inform future environmental analysis and decision-making. Information collected during this phase will help shape the scope of studies and analyses conducted for the project.
Representatives from the Bureau of Land Management and the Southern Ute Indian Tribe Growth Fund will be available to share project information and answer questions. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with project representatives and provide comments during the meeting.
Community participation is a key component of the scoping process, ensuring that local perspectives, knowledge, and concerns are considered as planning moves forward.
