Joe Howell is recognized by James Ramirez, former Vice President of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1075. The chapter is comprised of combat veterans. Howell is an associate member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1075, he has been a 3-year member.

The Pikes Peak Honor Bell Foundation led by Larry Peterson gather in front of the Southern Ute Veterans Memorial located at Veteran’s Park on Sunday, Aug. 2 for a ceremony dedicated to remembering and honoring America’s Veterans. The Honor Bell Foundation is a Colorado non-profit organization that provides funeral honor for deceased military veterans through the tolling of the custom ceremonial bell – the foundation also provides veteran outreach and community education opportunities.

Members of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1075, based in Colorado Springs, attended the Honor Bell Ceremony hosted by the Southern Ute Veterans Association on Sunday, Aug. 2. The community was also invited to attend the event, to honor the memories of loved ones who served in the Armed Forces.

The Pikes Peak Honor Bell Foundation presents the Honor Bell on Sunday, Aug. 2, the bell rang across the Southern Ute Veterans Park seven times representing; Choice to Serve, Camaraderie, Patriotism, Respect, Dignity, Honor, and the Value of Life. The ceremony served as a free community event, honoring veterans and Gold Star families, ensuring that the service and sacrifice of each veteran are never forgotten.
