Tribal employees from multiple departments took time out of their day to attend the celebration and give well wishes to Shockley. Acting Education Director, Michael Kirsch presented a gift on behalf of the department to Shockley.
Executive Officer Lindsay Box takes Jeremy Wade Shockley back to his roots and gifts him an instant polaroid camera set. Box also took time to share her gratitude to Shockley for his leadership, dedication and many achievements in his role as Editor/Media Manager.
Tribal members and tribal elders also attended the celebration, greeting Shockley and sharing handmade gifts with the Editor. Elise Redd (right) is interviewed by Crystal Ashike of KSUT Tribal Radio, after gifting a brand-new ribbon shirt to Shockley ahead of the Bear Dance season. Shockley, an avid Bear Dancer, plans to attend this year’s ceremony and will continue to return each year to participate in the spring celebration.

Celebrating the Southern Ute Drum editor


The Tribal Information Services department hosted a celebration in honor of Jeremy Wade Shockley and his career achievements as he prepares to leave his position as The Southern Ute Drum Editor/Media Manager. On Wednesday, April 22 – colleagues, friends, and family gathered at the Hall of Warriors to share memories, enjoy refreshments and celebrate Shockley. As he transitions, Shockley will continue to cover stories throughout the Four Corners region, with emphasis on photojournalism.
