Aliysha Arnold shares her experiences during the filming of “The Basket Lady” on Sunday, March 9 at the Durango Arts Center as part of the Native Lens Media Showcase. Arnold is featured in the film as on the main characters, the film is based on a Ute legend and was filmed on the Ute Mountain Ute Reservation in Towaoc, Colo.
Kree Lopez served as an interviewer during the Native Lens Media Showcase, asking questions and directing the conversation during a Q&A session with featured film makers. Lopez was also part of the Native Lens film titled “The Basket Lady” created by youth from the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe.
Rocky Mountain PBS in partnership with the Durango Film Festival, Native Lens, KSUT, and the Colorado Film Commission hosted the Native Lens Media Showcase and free community reception, Sunday, March 9. Durango Independent Film Festival Executive Director, Carol Fleisher welcomed all attendees to the showcase on Sunday.
