Picture yourself as a parent of a child who is blind or visually impaired. Your child is told to sit out physical education activities for “safety reasons.” But you know your child needs the physical activity and social interaction of sports and recreation, just as much as their sighted peers. You know you would do anything you could to help your child have these opportunities.
On August 29-30, Camp Abilities Four Corners is giving those parents that chance! They are holding their first-ever Family Golf Clinic in Farmington, New Mexico. This is a two-day event meant to bring together children with blindness/visual impairment, their parents and one sibling, and Camp Abilities Four Corners staff to provide fun activities, like golf, foot golf, swimming and bowling. Thanks to a generous grant from Wadsworth Golf Charities Foundation, costs of housing and food for this event will be covered by the Camp.
If you know of a child with blindness/visual impairment aged 9-17, please contact Camp president Vicki at campabilitiesfourcorners@gmail.com or call her at 970-946-2965. They would love to include all eligible children in the Four Corners area for this unique opportunity to get to know Camp personnel, spend time with other families with similar issues, and see how the Camp works in real time.
Let’s give ALL children the opportunity to experience the joy of sports!
