Marvina Olguin was invited to speak at the Centennial Celebration of The U.S. Probation Office on May 2, in Denver. The celebration was to recognize 100 years of federal probation and the federal justice system. Olguin was celebrated as a former federal probation client success story. Her Federal Probation Officer, Erika Ball stated, “It was evident that Ms. Olguin was serious about achieving her goals and making positive changes in her life. And she did”.
Today, Marvina Olguin is a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist working at Southern Ute Behavioral Health Division. She facilitates White Bison 12 Step and Mending Broken Hearts groups as well as providing one on one support services for those struggling with substance use disorders. Olguin says her favorite part of the job is connecting with the community and showing others that recovery is possible.
