A celebration of Robert Clarence Taylor’s life will occur at 2 p.m. at the Southern Ute Multi-purpose Facility in Ignacio, Colo., on Aug. 24.

Family and friends and all those who knew him: Please attend and please bring pictures and memories.

Obituary notice for Robert C. Taylor

June 12, 1946 – August 14, 2013

Robert Clarence Taylor was born on June 12, 1946, at Taylor Hospital in Ignacio. Parents were Floy Box and Henry Taylor. Robert also acknowledged Euterpe Taylor as his mom, for she raised him until age 18.

Robert graduated from Ignacio High School and attended college in Haskell in Kansas, where he met his wife Davetta Bigleggins Taylor.

Robert and Davetta lived in several different areas, but they made their family home in Ignacio, where they raised their five children.

Robert worked numerous jobs for the Southern Ute Indian Tribe until he retired.

Robert is preceded in death by his mothers and father, his wife and daughter and his siblings: Frederick Taylor, Raymond Valdez, Eva O’John, Mary Francis Taylor, Jason Taylor, and Dean Taylor.

Robert is survived by his children Monique Medina of Iowa, Michelle D. Taylor of Durango, Colo., Raquel Taylor-Summa of Ignacio, Rochelle Taylor Aguilar of Ignacio, Buddy Ray Taylor of Ignacio, India Sage of Ignacio, and Andrew Gallegos of Ignacio.

Robert is also survived by 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
