Tenetke Wesley, received the 2026 Elbert J. Floyd Award in Southern Ute Tribal Council Chambers on Friday, May 15. Tenetke Wesley a Southern Ute tribal member, completed fifth grade, and will be going into sixth grade at the Mountain Middle School in Durango, Colo. He is also a decedent of the Mvskoke and Seminole Tribe of Oklahoma. Tenetke means “Thunder” in the Mvskoke language, a name given to him by his Grandfather. Wesley likes to draw and complete Lego sets of various types. Wesley has been on the Bayfield YAFL team for 4 years and has been nominated for Student of the Week twice throughout the school year. Mrs. Hughes has stated, “Tenetke is creative and inquisitive and works hard”. Mr. Luron Dean of Inclusion also stated, “Tentke stands out as a shining example of our schools core value, which is respect, integrity, refinement, and effort.”
