Celebrating and honoring leaders of our nation
In the last few weeks, the Tribe has celebrated and honored leaders of our nation. Both of these leaders were committed to justice and equality. Our 39th President, James Earl Carter, Jr, signed landmark legislation which supported Tribal nations in the United States. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was instrumental in the Civil Rights movement and had a vision of peace for all people.
Being a leader comes with struggles and triumphs, frustrations and celebrations, wins and losses. I’d like to thank our Tribal Council, past and present, for all they’ve done for SUIMA. Your job is not an easy one, but when it comes to our students, you’ve supported them 100% – Tuvuchi toghoyaqh!
Montessori Tidbits
Marie Montessori believed in setting ground rules. The “rights” of every student in a Montessori classroom can be seen in the list below. We understand that these are fundamental to the operation of our classrooms. We believe that students have the right to:
- Be safe. In a “prepared environment” the safety of the students is prominent.
- The right to be undisturbed. Order and self-discipline are important, and each student has the right to maintain order and concentration while involved in their learning.
- The right to choose any lesson that has already been presented to them. Once a lesson is taught to a student, it is available for choice whenever the student wants to do the lesson. The student’s ability to choose shows there is an interest in the lesson.
Early Release Days are every Friday at 2p.m.
