Coloradans and our Shared Environment in Times of Challenge and Change

The Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College is pleased to announce the opening of a new exhibition, Coloradans and our Shared Environment in Times of Challenge and Change, on Thursday, April 11, from 4:30 to 6p.m.

This thought-provoking exhibit delves into the deep connections Coloradans have with the state’s natural landscape and challenges related to fire, drought, water, and air quality. Produced by collaborative teams of artists and scientists, the artworks presented provide a poignant reflection on the evolving environmental landscape of Colorado.

Coloradans and our Shared Environment in Times of Challenge and Change is the result of a partnership among CU Boulder’s Office for Public and Community-Engaged Scholarship, the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research (INSTAAR), and the Boulder County Arts Alliance. Thanks to generous support from the Ballantine Family Fund, this exhibition will be open to the public at the Center of Southwest Studies until Feb. 7, 2025.

The Center’s exhibition opening will coincide with Fort Lewis College’s Arts April Gallery Night, celebrating the vibrant artistic community on campus. In addition to visiting Coloradans and our Shared Environment in Times of Challenge and Change, attendees will have the opportunity to explore a new exhibition sponsored by the Department of Art & Design titled 19 Degrees of Being: Graduating Communication Design & Studio Art Majors. This double feature promises an evening of inspiration and reflection on the intersection of art, science, and community.
