Tuition-free Security + Cybersecurity and Commercial Drone Pilot course

Tuition-free certifications 

 As part of our continued workforce development efforts, the Alliance in partnership with PCC, will be offering both a Security + Cybersecurity Certification and a Commercial Drone FAA Part 107 Pilot License course starting the first week of September. These courses are tuition-free and made available to our membership with a grant from La Plata County and Colorado OEDIT.

Course information: 

Security + Cybersecurity certification incorporates best practices in hands-on troubleshooting, ensuring you have the practical security problem-solving skills required to:  

  • Assess the security of an organization and recommend and implement appropriate solutions. 
  • Monitor and secure hybrid environments, including cloud, mobile and IoT. 
  • Operate with an awareness of applicable laws and policies, including principles of governance, risk and compliance. 
  • Identify, analyze and respond to security events and incidents.

Schedule: Sat 10 a.m. to 2 p.m Sept. 9 to Dec. 10 (skipping October 7, 14 and November 18, 25) 

FLC Center for Innovation in the Main Mall downtown Durango. 

Drone commercial pilot license  

UAS 140 class is designed to teach principles of flight and control as it applies to drones/UAS equipment. This course will include the principles of flight, mission planning, systems control, safety of personnel, safety in the operational environment and compliance with regulations and procedures. This will be a well-balanced course of flight practice time and classroom time. 

UAS 1050 is designed to prepare all participants to take and pass the FAA Part 107 Exam. The Part 107 license is required for all professional/commercial UAS pilots. This course will provide an understanding of all aspects of the exam plus provides a deep understanding of the technology and an overview of what is coming in the near future with AUS integration into the National Airspace System.
