The Ignacio School District honored military men and women during their “Salute to Our Veterans” Dinner and Concert, at the Ignacio High School, Friday, Nov. 9, in the High School commons and auditorium. Superintendent Rocco Fuschetto welcomed all who attended the salute, and Divine Windy Boy sang the National Anthem. The Ignacio High School Band performed a melody of each branch of service’s songs commemorating all the armed forces. Yolanda Vigil gave a reading of a poem she wrote in high school, “Veterans.” Her father Pete Vigil was the guest speaker for the evening event and spoke of his tour of duty in Vietnam. Vigil received a blanket presented to him by the Sunshine Cloud Smith Youth Advisory Council. Poems and songs were given to close out the annual event.
