Tribal member Ethan Barry, 9, fourth grader at Ignacio Elementary School, competed in the Annual Spelling Bee hosted by the Ignacio School District on Thursday, Feb. 9. There were about 50 competitors from the fourth to eighth grades, and Ethan made it to the 6th round with only ten students left. “We are so proud of Ethan, we hope he continues to do well at school,” said Marge Barry. Ethan is the son of Preston Barry and LeNora Martinez.

Jeffrey Brittain on the far right took first in the vocabulary round. State qualifier, Henderson, will travel to Denver on March 11 for the State Spelling Bee.
