“When the Lord of the Night sees that his world is sad and colorless because his four special musicians have been locked-away by Sun, he sends Wind to free them to play their special music and fill the world with happiness once more.” Students of the Ignacio Middle School performed ‘Musicians of the Sun’ an Aztec tale from the book written by Gerald McDermott on Tuesday, May 20 at the Ignacio Middle School.
Middle School orchestra member, Monika Lucero plays the xylophone with other 4th and 5th grade students during a performance of ‘Musicians of the Sun’ prior to the 5th Grade Continuation Ceremony.
5th grade student leader, Carlos Lovato gave the welcome speech after the Pledge of Allegiance to begin the continuation ceremony.
Jeremy Carmenoros received his diploma and a handshake from Principal Mr. Herr.
Ignacio Middle School Principal Mr. Herr thanked Dr. Pokorney for “taking care of the kids.” Pokorney (left) was the principal for 4th and 5th grade students until the students moved into the new Ignacio Middle School. Mr Herr was the principal for the K-3 before the move, he then became the principal of the Ignacio K-5 grades. Dr. Pokorney is now the Admin curriculm director for the Ignacio School District.
