We are excited to welcome your child back to school!

Please do not arrive before 7:30 a.m., as supervision is not available and the school gates will remain locked until 7:30 a.m. To enhance safety, the only entrances that open at 7:30 a.m. will be the dining hall gate and the office.

Students should arrive at school with enough time to settle in and be ready to learn before the start of the school day. Instruction begins promptly at 8:10 a.m. each day, at which time the gates will be locked, and the flag song will begin. We encourage families to plan for arrival before 8 a.m. whenever possible to ensure a smooth and successful start to the day.

Breakfast is served in the dining hall from 7:30 to 8 a.m. for Primary and Elementary. Please sign them in at the dining hall before they eat. For primary students, parents also have the option to sign their child in directly at the classroom if they will not be eating breakfast. For elementary students, they must go to the dining hall if they arrive before 8 a.m. even if they are not eating breakfast. Elementary teachers will pick their students up at the dining hall at 8 a.m. If you are unable to arrive before 8 a.m., please ensure your child has eaten breakfast at home.

Lunch is served from 11:15 a.m. to 12 p.m. for Primary and 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. for Elementary in the dining hall. Infant/Toddler lunch is 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in the classrooms. Monthly lunch menus will be available on the school website at SUIMA.org and on ClassDojo. Please review the menu regularly to ensure your child can eat the meals served.

To support healthy learning habits, please do not send sugary breakfast foods or drinks to be consumed at school. A morning snack is provided daily. Additional snacks are not necessary unless your child has a documented dietary need or allergy that has been submitted to the school nurse.

Teachers need to be present with students during school days. They will check Dojo, their email, and their classroom phone messages every 24 hours during the work week. Teachers are not expected to answer personal cell phones. If you have an urgent message for the school, contact the front desk at 970-563-0253.

Absences: When a student is ill or must be absent from school, parents/guardians must call the SUIMA Administration office (front desk) at 970-563-0253 between 7:30 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. Please leave a voicemail if no one answers. The Administrative Assistant will let the classroom know. If no phone call is made, the Administrative Assistant will contact the parent/guardian to inquire about the absence(s).

Late Arrivals: If arriving after 8:10 a.m., please arrive through the main office and check in at the front desk. For safety reasons, no one will be let through the gates after they have locked. A staff member will walk your child to class.

Field trips: Students who miss two days of school or have eight tardies two weeks prior to a field trip will stay behind and work on missed work. Absent with a doctor’s note will be excused.

Although we will not be tracking in-kind hours this year, parents/guardians are still expected and encouraged to volunteer with SUIMA! Examples include volunteering on campus, communicating with your child’s teacher about classroom needs, donating items, attending School Board meetings, participating in the Parent Advisory Group, and attending family nights.

Thank you for your support and we are looking forward to a great school year!
