Southern Ute Utilities Division featured handmade flowers and trees, loom, and water feature on their float. They came second in the Float-Service Group category.

Southern Ute tribal member, Malia White Thunder, rides horseback through the parade in her regalia on Saturday. White Thunder went on to take first for “Best Native Dressed Female Horse Rider” in the parade.

Floats, families, and parade fans gathered in downtown Ignacio for the 103rd Annual Southern Ute Tribal Fair Parade event on Saturday, Sept. 13, hosted by the Department of Natural Resources. This year’s parade theme is “Blooming Creations” and featured 14 categories, including newly added “Kiddie Categories,” horse category, the highly sought-after Chairman’s Award and Executive Office Award. Contestants at the 65th Annual Southern Ute Tribal Fair Powwow also participated in the parade for a chance to earn extra points. This year’s parade had over 40 different floats from across the Tribal organization and community. Winners of the Chairman’s Award go to Southern Ute Education/SUIMA – Executive Office Award goes to Vocational Rehab.
