Native Love host Indigenous Fashion Show

Bird Red was the emcee for the first annual Indigenous Fashion Show, hosted by Native Love, a non-profit organization based in Ignacio.
Elder, Hanley Frost said an invocation and sang an MMIWR honoring song to begin the Indigenous Fashion Show.
Native Love board member, Oolcu Buckskin (Southern Ute) recognized other Native Love Board and Committee members.
The fashion show began with elders displaying their traditional regalia. Edward Box III spoke proudly of the various pieces he wore. Most he created himself.

Youth were the darlings of the fashion show, as Harmony Reynolds showcases a beautifully hand-made skirt and jewelry.
Youth displayed various items, created by Native designers and were adorned with custom made beaded items and jewelry. Alexis Ortiz wears a ribbon skirt and jewelry.
Able Velasquez strutted his stuff, wearing a beaded hat as well as a medallion.
Kieley White Thunder and Jaylen Alston wore beaded items.

Aislinn Ryder rocked a custom skirt and beaded hat.

The first annual Indigenous Fashion show, hosted by Native Love, showcased native artistry in clothing and jewelry. The fashion show hosted vendors selling their hand-made arts and crafts, some contributing their work to the fashion show. Items of various pieces of original artwork, bead work and jewelry were given away during the event. A screening of Shalina Luna’s film “Her Silent Voice” of the epidemic of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives (MMIWR) in the state of Colorado.
