Yellow Jacket Singers of Ignacio, Colo. gathered as an invited guest drum at the 28th annual Northern Colorado Intertribal Powwow Association (NCIPA) Powwow — held Friday, April 8 through Sunday, April 10. This powwow is hosted at the Northside Aztlan Community Center in Fort Collins, Colo. offering singing, dancing, various artists, vendors, and hospitality.
Robert “R.C.” Lucero guides daughter Aaliyah Lucero in the dance arena during the tiny tot’s dance competition Saturday, April 9 at the NCIPA powwow. After each session children receive small gifts and prizes for their participation; children are encouraged to continue their dancing within the powwow circuit as they grow older.
