After performing poems and songs at Fort Lewis, Tanaya Winder signs one of her last books “Why Storms are Named After People and Bullets Remain Nameless” for a college student.

The annual “Real History of the Americas” celebration brought artists and activists together to empower one another on Indigenous Peoples Day Monday, Oct. 8 at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo.
