Mique,

My name is Myla GoodTracks, and I am the current 2017-2018 Little Miss Southern Ute. I am the daughter of Olin & Stephanie GoodTracks. My paternal grandparents are Robb GoodTracks & Wilinda Price. My maternal grandparents are Steve Rivera & Jody Tahlo. Since I have started my reign back in September of 2017, it has been a busy, but fun time for me.

My reign started in September at the Southern Ute Fair Powwow where I was crowned Little Miss Southern Ute. From there I attended the Ignacio Community Library 10 year party and the Southern Ute Tribe’s Annual ‘back to school’ family BBQ. I also went to Lawton, Okla., Sept. 22-24 for the 26th Annual Choctaw Powwow.

In October I was in the Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering Parade, and myself along with the other royalty members had a Halloween booth for the Halloween Carnival that was held at the Sky Ute Casino. On Oct. 18, I was presented to the Tribal Council with my fellow royalty members.

For the month of November, I attended the opening day of the Youth Bull Riding Finals that was held at the Sky Ute Farigrounds. The Royalty members also put together a walk, and afterwards we visited with participants in the SunUte gym. For the Tribal Thanksgiving Dinner, I met and shook hands with the families of the Southern Ute, Northern Ute and Ute Mountain Ute tribes. On November 23-25, I traveled with my family to Ft. Duchesne, Utah for their annual Thanksgiving Powwow.

In December I appeared at the End of Term Reception for Councilwoman Amy Barry and Chairman Clement Frost. I was in attendance at the December Inauguration for the newly elected council members Cheryl Frost and Cedric Chavez, and Chairwoman Christine Sage. On Dec. 10, I went to the Leonard C. Burch Memorial walk. My last appearance for the month of December was our Tribal Christmas Dinner, where I again met and shook hands with the Ute tribes and their families, and our Tribal Christmas Program that I also participated in with my fellow royalty members.

As I said it has been a busy time, but I enjoy being Little Miss Southern Ute, representing my family and people, and will continue to do my best. I am looking forward to the upcoming months of appearances, powwows, and meeting new people everywhere I go.
