Southern Ute Tribal members joined one another at Ignacio High School on Tuesday, Nov. 22 to inform students about Native American Heritage month, which is celebrated nationally throughout November. Tribal elder Eddie Box Jr. led dancers inside the Bobcats auditorium, accompanied by songs of the drum group Yellow Jacket. Dancers of all ages participated in various performances, including shawl, traditional, fancy dancing, and grass dancing. Ignacio High School students and teachers were then invited onto the gymnasium floor to participate in a special round dance.
