Artist Leadership is a program about the influence of Native American art and how it is reflected in the modern world. Conrad Thompson from Ignacio spoke at the event on Wednesday, Aug. 27 in regards to the topic of native music and how all genres of music originated from the drum, which is believed to be one of the first instruments to be used for communication. Thompson, who is an avid musician, believes instruments are an outlet of getting out feelings and emotions. Attendees were given the opportunity of creating a design for a drum provided by Thompson.
