Veterans Powwow graces Ignacio High School


The annual Community Veterans Powwow returned to Ignacio High School on Nov. 8 – 9, honoring all who served. Sponsored by the Southern Ute Veterans Association, the Volunteers to Honor Our Veterans, Ignacio High School, Ignacio School District, and the Southern Ute Multi-Purpose Facility, the community powwow welcomed veterans, dancers, singers, and the community in celebration of the Veterans Day holiday weekend. Head staff included Dean Webster Sr. (U.S. Marine Corps), Cecilia Price (U.S. Army), Selwyn Whiteskunk (U.S. Army)Omaha White Tail singers, Black Lodge Singers, Emcee Ruben Little Head, and Arena Director Dorsey Dick. Southern Ute Veterans Association Princess, Jazlynn Jacket was also selected to serve another year long reign as the ambassador.
