Vice Chairman, Marvin Pinnecoose, Acting Director of Education, Michael Kirsch and Southern Ute tribal member, Edward Box III, attended the signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding between Fort Lewis College (FLC) and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) on Wednesday, April 8. This event marked the beginning of establishing structured pathways to graduate education, supporting FLC undergraduates into UNLV graduate education.

In attendance at the signing; Mario Martinez-Provost FLC, Tammi Tiger-director of Tribal Education UNLV, Edward Box III-Southern Ute tribal member and UNLV Alumni, Heather Shotton President of FLC, Michael Kirsch-Acting Director of Southern Ute Education, Alyssa Crittenden-Vice Provost for Graduate Education and Dean of the Graduate College UNLV, and Vice Chairman Marvin Pinnecoose. This partnership between FLC and UNLV will expand access to advanced degrees and more – particularly for students from rural communities, first-generation and students from tribal communities.
