Ute Veterans, attended the 140th anniversary of the Milk Creek Battle, on Sept. 28 of this year at the Milk Creek Battlefield Park outside of Meeker, Colo. The commemorative event was organized by the Rio Blanco County Historical Society, who extended the invitation to the Ute tribes. Members of the Northern Ute War Bonnet Society, Jonas Grant and Delbert Tavashutz were present, along with Southern Ute Veterans Association member, Dr. James Jefferson.
