Open enrollment

December 1-10 is open enrollment for SUIMA. Please stop by the school office to pick up a registration form or you can find it on our website: We serve students who are Southern Ute tribal members or first-generation direct descendants, with proof of descendancy, in a five-day school week.

We have several available spots for infants, toddlers, and the upper elementary level, (4th, 5th, 6th), with a few spots open in the preschool/kindergarten and lower elementary level (1st, 2nd, 3rd).  We use the Montessori method to teach lessons and provide independence in the classrooms. On Fridays we have the honor of guest speakers joining our Ute Language program who assist the students as they learn more about their culture and traditions.

  • SUIMA will be closed the week of November 20 – 24 to celebrate Thanksgiving week with families.
  • Eagle Wing Drum Group, with support from the Fort Lewis College Drum Group, meets on Wednesday evenings from 5p.m. – 6p.m. in the Ute Language class.

Parent Advisory Group

The next PAG meeting will be Nov. 28 from 6 – 7 p.m., via Zoom. We typically have them every third Tuesday, but in November, the third Tuesday falls in our Thanksgiving break. Please join us for an evening full of information pertaining to the holiday season.

Family Nights

Our November Family Night may be held on Wednesday, Nov. 29. The theme for that night will be “Family Trees.” Come join us for a meal and fun activity as we learn to use our Ute language in regard to children, siblings, parents, and grandparents.
