Cats collect All-League diamond honors

Ignacio's Joe Herrera (1) rounds third in anticipation of scoring a possible run against Center during what ended up being the Bobcats' regular-season home finale on Tuesday, May 2. (CHS had been scheduled to face Dolores in Pagosa Springs, but when DHS had to pull out due to unfortunate circumstances, IHS filled the vacancy and won 7-5.)

Bobcats fall hard to end regular season

Saturday, May 6 – Opening Day, officially begins the 2017 Ignacio Youth Baseball season. The Ignacio teams gathered for opening day ceremonies and the first games of the season. Keevin Reynolds makes a throw to Malique Rodriguez, throwing the runner out on first.

Seniors shine, Bobcats bash Bears 6-1

Ignacio’s Kruz Pardo (6) pitches on the road at Hotchkiss during the Bobcats’ 9-3 loss on Saturday, April 1. IHS would begin the day at the Bulldogs’ Burns O. Drake Athletic Field, and end at the Volunteer Park Sports Complex in neighboring Paonia while facing both Delta County teams in one day.

Bobcats’ first win comes in dramatic fashion

Ignacio freshman Bela Torres (11) looks up, pondering passing cross-court and away from Dolores’ Brooklynne Ward (1) during junior-varsity action Dec. 13 inside IHS Gymnasium.  IHS had little difficulty in pounding the Lady Bears, 2A/1A San Juan Basin League rivals, 41-11.  It was the squad’s final game before the long holiday break.  The JV boys also prevailed over DHS, 62-51, but then lost a one-point verdict to 3A Basalt on Day 1 of the in the Montezuma-Cortez “Rumble in ‘The Jungle’” – the tournament featured a junior-varsity bracket almost paralleling the varsities’ – and by an estimated 15-20 points to 2A Moab (UT) Grand County wrapping up the Old Year.

Quintupling Game 1 runs, Cats split at NHS

Ignacio junior Zach Weinreich lets fly the first pitch on the revamped IHS Field, beginning the March 18-19 Bobcat Invitational with 3A Salida serving as the updated facility's first opponents. The Spartans prevailed 8-0, but Ignacio would eventually pick up its first win in 2016 the following morning against 2A Cedaredge.
