Obit: Blossom Monte Lucas

Blossom Monte Lucas passed on December 20, 2016 at Mercy Regional Medical Center surrounded by family.

Blossom was born in Ignacio, CO on March 19, 1970 to Victoria Monte Gill. She was a Southern Ute tribal member and graduated from high school in Tucson, Arizona.

Blossom earned her associate degree in massage therapy in Albuquerque, NM. In 2000 she met Ted Lucas and they were married in Durango, CO in 2001. Together, they had one daughter, Cree.

Blossom enjoyed spending time with family and her animals, she liked to color, and was a powwow dancer.

Blossom is survived by her husband Ted Lucas; daughter Cree Miller; mother Victoria and Jonothon; brothers Steven Ray Herrera, Eduardo James Herrera, Aleksandr Bearsoldier Gill; grandmother Effie Monte; aunt Sherry Salazar; uncles Victor, Drake and Steven Monte; close friends Kathy and April Lopez; cousin and best friend Sandra Redd Ryder and family; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved pets Nico and Audrey.

She was predeceased by her uncles Sgt. Johnny Monte and Norton Monte, and her grandfather John Monte.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016 at 5 p.m. at the Southern Ute Multi-Purpose Room located at 248 Ute Road in Ignacio, Colorado.
