Parents can make a difference in teen alcohol use

Healing Spirits, the aftercare group from Peaceful Spirit, invites everyone to gather at Ute Park for a memorial walk on Saturday, April 30 in support of Alcohol Awareness Month.

The walk will begin at 10 a.m. with the reading of the Healing Spirits Proclamation acknowledging the theme – “Talk Early, Talk Often: Parents Can Make Difference in Teen Alcohol Use.”

The emphasis on parents’ roles in the lives of youth is central to the Healing Spirits movement of community health. Alcohol Awareness Month recognition was established in 1987 by National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD) “to help reduce the stigma so often associated with alcoholism by encouraging communities to reach out to the American public each April with information about alcohol, alcoholism and recovery.”

We request walkers wear red. For more info call 970-563-4555.
